这张原声大碟汇集了爱尔兰音乐人的精英，U2，光头妹。

电影讲述的是英国一个真实的案例：当年爱尔兰共和军反抗英国，到处炸毁公共汽车，制造恐怖气氛。警方迫于社会压力急于破案而徇私枉法，一爱尔兰青年和他的家族成了刑讯逼供的牺牲品。在监狱中，青年与爱尔兰共和军成员以暴力对抗狱警，而他的父亲整日写信上诉，走的是一条和平对抗的道路。父子居于一室，在长期的监狱生活中，儿子逐渐理解了父亲。父亲终因旧病复发去世，而儿子秉承父亲遗志，继续上诉。最后在10 多年后，他的女律师偶尔在档案中发现了警方舞弊的证据，但最终获得的却是女王的特赦，罪魁祸首却不受惩处，他继续为伸张正义而努力……



影片以爱尔兰共和军和英国当年的暴力对抗为背景，描写战争背景下平民的悲哀、无助与挣扎，中间又穿插着父子二人由对立到相互理解的过程，表现人类最本质的亲情之爱。是一部难得的佳作。



当父亲去世时，监狱黑黝黝的墙壁上落下燃烧的纸片，在U2 沉重的鼓声与爱尔兰风琴忧伤音乐交织的背景下，Sinead 内敛而蕴涵着汹涌情感的歌声响起。此时，观者已完全化入电影的意境之中。
