“北极猴”Arctic Monkeys是何许人？他们是正火速走红的英国摇滚乐队，他们第一张唱片正打破英国首张唱片销量的纪录。



来自谢菲尔德（Sheffield）的北极猴在2003年开始举行小型演唱会，并在会场向观众派发CD样本，就是这些人开始把他们的歌曲上载互联网。 随后大型唱片公司开始扣门，但他们最终选择与独立的Domino Records合作。 另一队现在已经声名大噪的英国摇滚乐队Franz Ferdinand也属于Domino Records。 北极猴在2005年10月推出的单曲《I bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor》成为排行榜冠军，最新曲目《When the Sun Goes Down》第二次登上排行榜首位。

他们未因为成功打进主流乐坛而骄傲，他们并抗拒以音乐以外的东西取悦群众，因此他们不大喜欢接受采访，也不愿意透露太多个人资料。



主音歌手Alex Turner和鼓手Matthew Helders均19岁，在同一所学院读书。吉他手Jamie Cook和低音吉他手Andy Nicholson的背景不为人知。 Matthews表示，他不希望群众因错误的原因喜欢他们，他认为假若他们不忠于音乐，观众会看穿他们。北极猴的首张专辑《Whatever People Say I Am，That's What I'm Not》在推出第一天卖光了10万张。
