In Time: The Best of REM 1988 - 2003

R.E.M.乐队的音乐影响了美国从事另类摇滚音乐创作的一代人，在中国他们同样拥有数量广大的歌迷，但是这支乐队出道20多年以来，却很少出版过非常出色的精选集，近年来更是佳作稀少，而这张专辑确是R.E.M.乐队少有的金曲精选集，而许多歌迷也认识到了这一点，在专辑仅仅发行一周之后以7万6千张的成绩名列Billboard 200排行榜的第八位，这张专辑的另一个限量发行版本也取得了突出的成绩，同样名列前茅。 　　这张专辑是收录了R.E.M.乐队自从1988年600万美元的身价加盟华纳兄弟(Warner Bros.)公司以来，所有七张专辑中精选出来的18首经典单曲，但是这张专辑并没有传统的按照所旋转集的时间顺序而顺序排列单曲，因而不能够清晰的体会R.E.M.乐队在十五年来的变迁，而且专辑中的单曲虽然首首都曾经是辉煌一时的金曲，但却并不一定是R.E.M.乐队最出色的18首单曲，即便在华纳公司的七张专辑中选择也不是保证首首都是最出色的，比如R.E.M.乐队在华纳公司最辉煌的，同时也是整个R.E.M.历史上最辉煌的专辑《Automatic for the People》中许多优秀的单曲因为精选数量有限而未能在这张唱片中出现，取而代之的则是一些并不是非常好的专辑中较优秀的单曲
