电视原声 - Small Island(小岛屿)

<小岛屿>原声由 Martin Phipps 作曲。

这部两集共3小时长的电视剧是根据 Andrea Levy 的获奖小说改编，讲述二战前后牙买加移民在英国的遭遇，情节剧的戏剧化与1940年代黑人移民在英国遭受歧视的冰冷现实结合起来。在牙买加的蓝天和闪电与英格兰的阴郁潮湿的对照之下，一切对1940年代的温馨怀旧的企图完全消失了。

电视剧中的两个爱情故事，一个迅猛，一个慢热，几位演员，其中包括英国女演员Ruth Wilson，给几个角色的性格带来了立体感，几乎每个角色在带有性格的缺陷或是执拗的梦想，同时都有令人同情或是赞叹之处。围绕着移民和种族歧视的主题，有些是作为移民者才有的强烈的认同和排斥交织的感觉：从小受英国式教育的牙买加人，对英国的了解，和对英国气质的模仿，比在两次大战中被折磨得精疲力竭的英国人强得多。有时候移民对本地人更像本地人，对移居国“民族精神”的认同与执著，往往却在本地人的行为中找到反面例子。

剧中对移民和本地人的关系，亦不乏具有喜剧性的观察：初到伦敦的牙买加姑娘 Hortense的矜持作派和端庄举止，与地道英国人 Queenie 的随意的举止和直接的谈吐，形成奇特的反差。
