橘子郡男孩(the Orange County/the O.C.)的故事从一个名叫Ryan的青年开始。Ryan是一个居住的贫民区的青年，父母离异；哥哥总是在街上混。一日，哥哥教他偷车的时候，被警察抓住。哥哥由于已成年，所以直接被判刑，而身为未成年人的Ryan在监狱遇见了了他的公共辩护人：Sandy Cohen。Sandy是一个家住橘子郡的律师，一直致力于帮助改正不良青少年。后来，为了这个案子，Sandy留给了Ryan名片。



Ryan被他妈妈接出了监狱。但Ryan母亲整日酗酒、和她的男友们鬼混，逼迫Ryan离开了家，但由于他孤独无助，只能向律师Sandy打电话。Sandy做出决定，要把Ryan接到他们家。但是这却得到了Sandy的妻子的反对。出于无奈，妻子只好把游泳之旁边的客房临时为ryan所用。就这样，Ryan从一个贫穷的家庭来到了一个美国白人上层居住区。故事就是这样开始了……



《橘子郡男孩》一片非常受美国青少年的观众喜爱，在“青少年的选择”评比中，获得“最佳电视剧奖”、“最佳突破电视剧奖”、“最佳男主演奖”、“最佳突破女明星奖”等四项大奖。
