制片Bryan Fuller ('Heroes')和Barry Sonnenfeld ('Men in Black') 带来了一部前所未有地糅合了浪漫、罪案侦破与高端幻想元素的童话。从前某时，有个名叫Ned的举止害羞的男孩，他意识到自己有一项天赋：只要伸出手指轻轻一触，他就能让失去生命的事物转世还阳。长大成人的Ned充分利用着这项天赋，不仅令到腐败的水果恢复新鲜可口、用来制作各种各样的馅饼，而且和一位私家侦探联手，解决谋杀案：他的方法就是触摸被害者，让他们说出凶手的名字。不过，当Ned令得和他青梅竹马的女孩Chuck死而复生之后，故事就开始变得复杂了。Chuck鼓励他运用自己的能力去帮助他人，而不仅仅是解决疑案，然后收取悬赏金。生活本来对Ned和Chuck来说就应该是完美结局了，可是这中间还有一个残酷的曲折：如果他再次碰到她，那她就会再死一次，而这一次就永远也不会复活。
