UGK

由两位南方说唱歌手Pimp C和Bun B组建的UGK组合已经成军20年，从他们发片的频率我们就能看出，UGK不是一支纯粹的商业组合。
Bun B和Pimp C的组合UGK在上世纪八十年代末就出道了，连续发行了几张成功专辑之后,UGK登上了南部的顶峰，也是他们一起把德州的休斯顿推上了Hip-Hop的版图。
但是团队的发展并不是一帆风顺，成员Pimp C早先犯下携带枪支罪，但由于事后未参加社区服务而被判罚八年监禁。Bun B接过了他的事业，到处宣传“放了Pimp C”的口号。他也非法发放了成千上万件印有“放了Pimp C”的T恤。Pimp C在狱中推出了自己的首张个人专辑《Sweet James Jones Stories》，当年年末，也就在他快达到监狱生涯的一半四年时，Pimp C被释放出狱。2006年夏天，歌迷们终于等到了真正的Pimp C新专辑——《Pimpalation》。其间Bun B也没有闲着，2005年发行了一张个人专辑《Trill》,并大受好评。但好景不长，2007年12月4日，Pimp C在好莱坞的Mondrian酒店房间里死亡，警方证明Pimp C当时穿戴整齐，并没有吸食毒品的迹象，也没有跌倒或受伤的痕迹，是自然死亡。Pimp C的以外死亡对于整个休斯顿，整个南部，整个Hip-Hop界来说都是件悲痛异常的事情。

Southern gangsta rappers Pimp C and Bun B formed UGK (aka Underground Kingz) in the late '80s and signed to Jive Records for their major-label debut album, 1992's Too Hard to Swallow. After second album Super Tight..., UGK hit the R&B charts with 1996's Ridin' Dirty, which ascended to the number two spot. Dirty Money followed in late 2001. Pimp C began serving at three-year jail sentence in early 2002, putting UGK on ice until 2007, when the double album Underground Kingz appeared.
